In 1994 the colloquial name Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens was changed to Brisbane Botanic Gardens (and for further local qualification) at suburban Mt Coot-tha. The City Botanic Gardens ceased to be our city's main Botanic Gardens in 1983 and they are now known internationally as the City Gardens - our state's number one Heritage Park. In 1983 all the functions of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens were carried on at the new site which is now known as the: Brisbane Botanic Gardens! R D McKinnon 2009
