Monogramma Schkuhr.

Minute, +/- pendulous epiphytes. Rhizome fine, creeping with spaced fronds, much-branched, fleshly, with many hairy roots, sometimes mat-forming, protostelic, densely covered by minute, basally attached, attenuate, clathrate scales. Fronds +/- sessile, not articulart to the rhizome, the costa with a single vascular strand, the lamina simple, entire, widening gradually from the base, +/- curved, linear to linear-oblanceolate, herbaceous, no veins other than the costa; epidermis with scattered elongate, thick-walled cells (spicular idioblasts). Sporangia in a single sorus elongate along the costa in a groove near the apex, protected by narrow indusial flap of tissue the same texture as the lamina attached along the costa, the flap of tissue not reaching the margin, sporangia on 3-seriate, apically widened stalks; paraphyses abundant and club-shaped; annulus longitudinal, interrupted, of c. 20 thickened cells. Spores trilete, globose, smooth, hyaline.
