Annual Photographic Competition for A.C.T. and Queanbeyan Region
High School and College Students

INFORMATION

SCHOOLS PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 2008

The prizewinning entries are on display in the foyer (across the path from the Visitor Information Centre) until the end of the year.

They will also be added permanently to the website.

This competition is held during the latter part of each year - entry closing date usually the final day of Third Term, with judging and presentation of awards during October.

It is restricted to students attending, at the time of the competition, a High School or Secondary College within the A.C.T. and Queanbeyan Region, and all photographs must be taken within the Australian National Botanic Gardens, featuring some aspect such as plants, wildlife, scenery, people enjoying the Gardens.

An Information Package containing details of the competition and entry forms is mailed to A.C.T. and Queanbeyan High Schools and Colleges during May.   When changes are made to the competition rules or categories, they are advised in the Information Package for that particular year.

The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to become aware of the value and beauty of the Australian National Botanic Gardens, which are devoted to our native plants, and, by exercising their photographic skills, to share that beauty with others.

Categories are :

High Schools (Years 7 - 10) : Black and White

Cash prizes are awarded for each category and an additional award is given for the benefit of the Photographic Department of the School/College whose student is awarded the First Prize in each category.

All entries are displayed for public viewing for a number of weeks, with the prizewinning and commended entries remaining on display for a further period.

Scans of the prizewinning and commended entries are also added to this web site, and the buttons below will connect to those entries since 1997.
