afterDARK Firefly Tours

Bring new light to a winter's night and experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Gardens' native flora by night.

Warm your hearts and hands with a delicious  hot chocolate, then  participate in the construction of your own hand made lantern.
Have your lanterns lit by a guide then embark on a fascinating after dark discovery of the Gardens.

When: Saturday 1 June, Saturday 6 July, Saturday 3 August 2013
Time: 6.30 pm - 8.00 pm | Gates open 6pm and close at 6.30pm sharp

Flora Explorer Tour bus

Flora Explorer Tours

Discover the Gardens in relaxing style in this one hour guided tour aboard a 12-seater electric bus.

When: Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays | 1.00 pm
Where: Tours begin outside the Visitor Centre

Turned On walks
Featuring themes from paintings by the artist, JMW Turner

Be 'Turned on' to the colour, light and atmosphere of nature in the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

Many works of the famous British artist, J.M.W. Turner are currently on display at the National Gallery of Australia. Turner is famous because he "created the extraordinary in capturing the colour, light and atmosphere of nature."

When: Saturdays throughout June, July and August | 11.00 am | Free
Where: Walks begin at the Visitor Centre
Bookings available for groups of 6 or more at booked times | group booking fee applies

 


Bush Magic Storytime | Bird stories

Come join us for a story and a craft activity in the Gardens.

When: Friday 7 June | Storytime is on the first Friday each month
Time: 10 – 11 am
Where: Follow the signs from the Cafe or check in at the Visitor Centre for details on the day | Storytime will be held indoors during wet and cold weather
Cost: $5 per child | Suitable for pre-schoolers
Bookings: Not required
