Boronia megastigma 'Heaven Scent'
This cultivar grows to a height of .5m by .3m wide. It has a
compact and symmetrical shape and the shrub is very dense. The flowering
period is from September to October. The colour of the flowers does not
differ from those of the usual form.
Diagnosis:
The diagnosis is prepared comparing the cultivar against the most common, or "normal" form of the species.

less leaf drop after flowering.
The cultivar is more resistant to Boronia rust disease, is more floriferous
and the flowers are held on the plant for a longer period of time. The last
factor extends the flowering season by some weeks.
Xerochrysum bracteatum 'Barleythorpe'
This cultivar grows into a dense shrub plus/minus 60cm tall by
up to 1m wide. The leaves are similar in size and shape to X. 'Dargan Hill
Monarch' but lack the dense tomentum of that cultivar. The inflorescence is
much the same size as X. 'Dargan Hill Monarch', being some 7-9cm in
diameter. X. 'Barleythorpe' has inner involucral bracts that are narrower
and more numerous than in B. 'Dargan Hill Monarch'. The inflorescence is
golden yellow in colour and the flowering season extends from spring to
autumn.
Diagnosis:
Xerochrysum 'Barleythorpe' can be distinguished from B. 'Dargan
Hill Monarch' by the more numerous and narrower inner involucral bracts and
the less tomentose leaves.

Agonis flexuosa 'Denmark Delight'
Note:
Specimen received as Agonis Nana Superior Form
This cultivar is a very dense dwarf form growing to ca. 1.7m tall by up to 2m wide. The branchlets are pendulous at a very early age, with the leaves being of similar size to the common form of A. flexuosa. The stems are reddish and the new growth is pink to red. The cultivar has
not been seen to flower.
Diagnosis:
There are a number of cultivars that have arisen from A. flexuosa. A. flexuosa 'Fairy Foliage' is very distinct because of its very reduced leaf blade and A. flexuosa 'Variegata' by its variegated foliage. A. flexuosa 'Nana' is probably the closest to A. flexuosa 'Denmark Delight'
but the two can easily be distinguished as A. flexuosa 'Nana' grows up to 3m tall and has much wider leaves.
Boronia 'Carousel'
This cultivar is a moderately dense upright shrub, growing
from 1-4 metres tall, but usually is 2m tall by 1.5m wide. The foliage is a
very dark green. The flowers occur in mid spring (late October to early
November in Sydney), are pink in colour aging to a deep red. The petals
last for a long period.
Diagnosis:
Boronia 'Carousel':
An upright shrub 1-4 metres tall by 1.5m wide. Leaves
pinnate to 35mm long, leaflets to 10mm long, dark green and mainly glabrous
(some scattered hairs along main vein). Flowers bell shaped, ca. 8mm long,
solitary, petals bright pink aging to deep red. Flowers October-November.
Boronia heterophylla (Red or Kalgan Boronia):
An upright, bushy shrub to 3m
tall by 2m wide though usually smaller and narrower. Leaves pinnate or
simple to 50mm long, leaflets to 30mm long, dark green and glabrous.
Flowers bell shaped, ca. 10mm long, solitary, petals reddish-pink and fade
as they age, slightly fragrant. Flowers can be found between
August-November.
Boronia molloyae (Tall Boronia):
An upright to spreading shrub 1-4m tall by
1-2m wide. Leaves pinnate, 20-50mm long, dark green and hairy, aromatic.
Flowers bell like, ca. 5mm long, solitary, pinkish-red, not fading with
age. Flowers October-January
The main characteristics of importance are the length of time the flowers
are held and the retention of the colour of the flowers as they age.
Banksia ericifolia 'Red Rover'
A moderately dense, medium upright shrub
Size - 2mH x 1.5m W
Flower Colour - Terracotta red
Flower Size - to 250mm long x 100mm diameter
Flowering time - April-Sep
Leaves (Foliage colour) - Bright mid Green 1mm wide x 10mm long
Frost hardiness: Medium
Years in cultivation:
Has the cultivar been tested Since introduction in
2004 at various east coast locations
The tight knit foliage is a little more lime green than most ericifolia forms, the ascending branchlets more sparse than dense, the terracotta red flowers are quite conspicuous when in flower.
Comparators:
Banksia ericifolia 'Golden Girl' has larger leaves and yellow flowers
Westringia eremicola 'Lavender Breeze'
‘Lavender Breeze’ is a medium sized shrub growing to approximately 2 metres tall. It has delicate mauve coloured flowers throughout the year. The fine branches and lavender flowers make a lovely display when moving in a light breeze.
Banksia spinulosa 'Birthday Candles'
Compact dwarf shrub with outstanding display of red and yellow cones from March to September
Banksia spinulosa 'Cherry Candles'
Habit: Small compact shrub
Plant Type: Small Shrub
Height (m): 45cm
Width (m): 50-60cm
Eremophila 'Meeka Grey'
Small to medium compact shrub to 1.5m in diameter, large tubular violet flowers and soft silver grey foliage
Leptospermum 'Lemon Frost'
This cultivar is a shrub ca. 2m. x 1.5m. The leaves are bright
green, dense, approximately 24mm long x 2mm wide on a short petiole to 1mm
long, sparsely hairy when young but soon becoming glabrous, apex acute,
base narrowed, with conspicuous oil glands, lemon scented. The flowers are
solitary, approximately 20mm across, more or less sessile, petals white and
approximately 5mm long. The flowering season is from late spring to early
summer.
Diagnosis:
Leptospermum petersonii:
Shrub to 4 x 3m, leaves 10-35mm x 2-4mm, on a
short petiole to 1mm long, narrowly elliptic, apex rounded often notched,
base cuneate; sparsely hairy when young but soon glabrous, conspicuous oil
glands, lemon scented; flowers solitary, petals white 5-7mm long, appearing
in spring and early summer.
Leptospermum 'Lemon Frost':
Shrub ca. 2 x 1.5m, leaves ca. 24mm x 2mm on a
short petiole to 1mm long, narrowly elliptic, apex acute, base narrowed,
sparsely hairy when young but soon glabrous, conspicuous oil glands, lemon
scented; flowers solitary, petals white, ca. 5mm long, in spring and early
summer.
Leptospermum polygalifolium:
Shrub to 4 x 2m, leaves 8-22mm x 1.5-4mm on a
petiole to 2mm long, narrowly elliptic, apex obtuse to acute, base
narrowed, glabrous; flowers solitary, petals white 4-6mm long, in spring
and early summer. In general, Leptospermum 'Lemon Frost' has a habit which
is intermediate between the two parents. It is more upright than L.
petersonii and much denser than L. polygalifolium. It has finer leaves than
L. petersonii, although still lemon scented, and flowers more prolifically.
The flowering habit more closely resembles L. polygalifolium.
